Controlled Freedom
Lisa Wals
For the video project Controlled Freedom, by Lisa Wals, I translated a complex question "how free can we truly be today?" into a stark, minimalist set design.
Inside a vast, dark space, a single spotlight illuminates a precise pile of sand surrounded by industrial blowers. The blowers act as a manufactured wind, constantly shifting the sand. By trapping these natural elements in a deeply controlled environment, the installation serves as a visual metaphor for the unseen forces that shape our modern autonomy.
